I finally got my account here to work, so I would like to throw my two bits on the table.
I am strongly in favor of a Roving Crown for GV or for a NY Kingdom if we get to the point that a NY Principality is a reality and we are writing a corpora. There are many reasons I feel this way.
1. I feel that it is unfair to ask any parks officers to both fulfill their duties to park and kingdom. After spending about a year as Chancellor of a shire, and now that I am nearing the midpoint of my second term as Sheriff of Two Rivers Point, I would never want to be an officer in GVP as things stand. Dealing with the dramatics of removing a Regent from office (happened in my park) as well as the day to day issues that arise in the shire in general have taken a lot of the fun from the game and made it work. I love the work, don't misunderstand, but it is work none the less. Throwing on top of that the responsibility to an entire kingdom, and that just sounds like misery really.
2. We open up an even larger pool of talent to help our kingdom grow. With kingdom officers limited to only being from GVP we are not allowing potentially great players from other parks to lead us. While GVP has many great people who attend there, who is to say that we couldn't have a great monarch from Boreal Dale or Haranshire or, dare I say it, Two Rivers Point. Seriously, think of how many talented members of the Kingdom do not reside at GVP.
Those points made there are some logistical issues that have to be ironed out, but I don't think they are so difficult as to forgo pursuing a Roving Crown. I do feel that NY forming a principality would be beneficial to both NY parks and the Kingdom as a whole. I support the move, and would be more active in pursuing this endeavor, however I feel that I am too inexperienced to lead the charge. A NY Principality is really a separate topic.
