Althing notes, 10/26/2013
Monarch-
1) Final discussion and votes for the proposed Corpora Change to allow up to 4 excused absences for Kingdom Officers, as long as they were present on the field of a Kingdom sponsored group. Votes taken separately by office.
Monarch- 9 yes, 1 no, PASSED
Regent- 9 yes, 1 no, PASSED
Prime Minister- 3 yes, 7 no, NOT PASSED
Champion- 0 yes, 10 no, NOT PASSED
2) Midreign feast budget, $400 requested with leftover funds to be returned to Kingdom. 10 in favor, 0 opposed, PASSED
3) Redav situation. Discussed the more recent updates regarding Redav's banning in Crystal Grove, including a recent "cross gaming event" used to circumvent the banning. Motion to drop this situation from any further Kingdom Business discussion. 8 yes, 2 no, Motion PASSED. (Clarification, as of last Althing, the final say was to allow him to play in the Kingdom of Goldenvale and to leave it up to local parks to decide to allow him onto their field. This is the state at which this will remain.)
4) Great Eastern bids were discussed. (Posted prior to this forum in their entirety) Specific issues raised about various bids included concerns over the potential lack of experience for some crats, plans for dissolution of profit from the event in the case that there is one, and potential changes to bids as the event draws nearer. 3 bids were to be voted upon, however after the first vote in favor of the Highland games bid, the other 2 became null.
Highland Games- UNANIMOUS
Grimm Fairytale- (unvoted)
Fall of Atlantis- (unvoted)
5) During the discussion of Great Eastern bids, the issue was raised about the need for more access to Kingdom funds, as well as the request for more transparency. While the current Treasurer does a good job, the concern was raised that he is often very busy.
------ This issue again came up during Populous business with a request to the BoD to have more accountability and availability, including allowing the office of the Prime Minister to have access.
Regent-
1) The next class in Miniature painting will be held at Brian Watson's home. Date TBA once heating is sorted out. Paints and Brushes as well as miniatures, will be provided.
2) This is the final week for the V8 Battlegame contest.
3) The Next Kingdomwide contest shall be weapon construction, in the realm of Heavy Padding. Up to 4 photos of the item TOTAL may be submitted, INCLUDING in progress construction images. The deadline for submissions is Dec 28.
Champion-
1) Next week will feature a monster based V8 battlegame, the prize offered for the game is the Homestone. (Crafted by Aislinn Graves, ooh ahh ohh dayum!) For those wishing to participate as monsters, dress as Mummies, Zombies, Skeletons or Ghosts. The level of effort and craftsmanship in the garb you wear will determine which level of the appropriate creature type you are. (IE; Tunic with blood, 1st level zombie, garb with rips, tears, makeup, exposed bones, etc could be 6th level)
2) In the winter as the temperatures fall, our garb standards do not.
3) Still looking for battlegames and quests to run on the field.
4) Empire's Grove's Midreign has changed dates from Nov 3 to Nov 10, the Champion still plans to attend and is offering rides.
Populous Business-
1) Reminder about Shanksgiving festivities on Nov 23rd at the "other side" of Greeley Park. 2 contests will be run, one for food contribution for the potluck, one for food contribution to be donated to a local food pantry. Potluck sign up is available on the event page, or by contacting Mike Mayer. www.facebook.com/events/625734297459544/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
2) The King is interested in creating a policy on Administering the Code of Conduct, including when and how it can be used. this would be to ensure fairness and transparency.
3) The Prime Minister is working on a Corpora overhaul to update with recent changes, reduce redundancy, streamline and standardize. Updates as available.
4) Discussion related to Kingdomwide voting for upcoming Prime Minister elections, this would still be in the data collection phase while attempting to ensure the process is valid and sustainable, before moving on to opening up other offices to kingdomwide voting.
UPDATED TO ADD- (brought to the populace as a discussion by King Nexus Crow while awaiting a battlegame, after the initial end of the Althing)
5) Discussed general feeling of the populace leans towards pulling our borders back. It is the opinion of the populace that the people of the Bitter Coast would be better served through direct sponsorship by the Kingdom of Crystal Groves. Therefore, a measure is being drawn to retract their sponsorship next month.
